The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has initiated the registration process for the HPPSC Mains exam 2023 on their website hppsc.hp.gov.in. Those students who have successfully passed the HPPSC prelims exam are eligible to register for the mains examination. Qualified candidates can submit their applications for the Mains exam until November 14. The HPPSC Mains exam 2023 will take place on December 13. Candidates should expect to receive their admit cards approximately 5-7 days before the exam date.

As per the notification candidates who pass the preliminary round will need to submit a new application for the Mains round. The notification reads, “Candidates are also informed that marks, cut-off marks of HAS Examination-2023 will be uploaded on the Commission’s website, only after the entire process of the Examination is over, i.e. after the declaration of final result”, the notification reads.

HPPSC Mains 2023: Steps to Apply

Step 1: Navigate to the official website www.hppsc.hp.gov.in

Step 2: Then, go to the Apply Online—One Time Registration (OTR) for Examinations link

Step 3: Once your registration is done proceed with the application process.

Step 4: After filling up the form and click on submit.

Step 5: Lastly, download and take a printout.

The HPPSC HAS prelims exam for 2023 took place on October 1. Initially, it was supposed to be held on August 27, but it was postponed due to severe road damage caused by heavy rainfall and unfavourable weather conditions in the state.

HPPSC Mains 2023: Exam Pattern

HPPSC HAS Mains examination includes different subjects, each with its own paper and a specific number of marks allocated. In the case of English (I), it carries 200 marks, Hindi (I1) for 200 marks, Essay (III) for 200 marks, General Studies I (IV) for 200 marks, General Studies II (V) for 200 marks, General Studies III (VI) for 200 marks, Optional Subject I (VII) for 200 marks, and Optional Subject II (VIII) for 200 marks, amounting to a total of 1400 marks.

The General Studies papers cover a wide range of topics, including Indian history, culture, government, economy, geography, and current events. Regarding Optional Subjects, candidates have a choice of 25 subjects, such as Agriculture, Anthropology, Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Economics, Education, Engineering, English Literature, Geography, Geology, History, Hindi Literature, Law, Mathematics, Management Studies, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Punjabi Literature, Sanskrit Literature, Sociology, Statistics, and Zoology. The examination will be conducted in both English and Hindi, and each paper has a duration of 3 hours.
