Linking of Aadhaar card with voter ID card has started in several states. According to the Election Commission, this initiative is for authentication of voter identity and voter list.
Initiatives in this regard started soon after the passage of the Parliament Elections Act (Amendment) Bill 2021. Efforts are being made to link voter list data with the Aadhaar system as per the provisions of this bill.
According to the Election Commission, if a voter is registered multiple times in multiple constituencies or in the same constituencies, it can be captured. However, it is good to know in this case, Election Commission has not made it mandatory to link Aadhaar with voter ID.
Want to link Aadhaar card with your Voter ID? Then follow the below steps one by one:
১. https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/ Go to
2. Login using your mobile number/email id/voter id number and enter password.
3. Fill in the state, district and personal details like name, date of birth and father’s name.
4. After filling the details click on ‘Search’. If the details you provided match with the government database, it will show on the screen.
5. Click on ‘Feed Aadhaar No’ option. It can be seen on the left side of the screen.
6. A pop-up page will appear. There you have to give your name as mentioned in Aadhaar Card, Aadhaar Number, Voter ID Number, Registered Mobile Number and/or Registered Email.
7. After filling all the details correctly, cross check once. Then click on ‘Submit’.
8. The screen will show that your application has been received successfully.

Link your Aadhaar card with Voter ID by sending an SMS to 166 or 51969.

Linking Aadhaar with Voter ID Card through phone call:
Another way to link Aadhaar card with Voter ID is to call.
Dial 1950 between 10 am and 5 pm any day except Sat-Sun. After that voter id card number and aadhaar card information has to be shared.
Aadhaar Link with Voter ID Card through Booth Level Officials:
You can link Aadhaar card with Voter ID by submitting an application at the nearest booth level office. Booth Level Officer will verify all details. You can also visit your residence to check the details.
How to check the status of Aadhaar card linked with Voter ID?
You can check the status of your application by visiting the NVSP website – https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/. Fill the required data in the ‘Seeding Through NVSP Portal’ section. You will see the status there.
