NAGPUR: City police is all set to seal premises of establishments like hotels, restaurants, marriage halls and banquet halls if any of the Covid-19 guidelines — especially 50% capacity and guest limit of 50 people for marriage or any other functions — is found violated.
Commissioner of police (CP) Amitesh Kumar said city police have been delegated with the power to seal the premises of such errant establishments and to levy fine to the tune of Rs 10,000 on the violators.
He said hotels and restaurants should display 50% capacity of their establishments in numbers outside their premises. “If not displayed, this too will invite action,” Kumar said.
The CP said that the 9pm restrictions of Section 144 are already in place. Hotels and restaurants can function till 12 midnight, while marriage halls and banquet halls must shut their premises by 11pm. “Any violation will invite sealing of premises and Rs 10,000 fine,” he said.
“As during the second wave, city police will conduct rapid antigen tests of perceived super-spreaders like autorickshaw drivers, vendors and home delivery boys,” Kumar added.
Nagpur police have started carrying out Covid-19 tests of cops and any accused persons before their arrest, he said.
