Himachal Youth Services and Sports Minister Vikramaditya Singh instructed to study Haryana’s sports policy to promote sports in the state. Addressing the first review meeting of the Sports Department, he said that Haryana is the state with maximum number of medals. That’s why Himachal will also encourage sports by moving forward on the model of Haryana and will try to surpass it in winning medals.

Vikramaditya Singh has instructed to study closely all aspects like infrastructure, prize money, jobs of players, diet money etc., so that sports can be encouraged in the state. Later these will be included in the sports policy of the state.

Efforts will be made to start winter games in Chanshal area as well

Vikramaditya Singh has also asked to promote skiing, mountaineering, snow boarding, paragliding under the Winter Olympics. These sports have also been mentioned in the sports policy prepared by the previous government. Presently Winter Games are held in Manali region only. Together with the tourism department, efforts will be made to start them in the Chanshal area as well.

Instructions for preparing sports calendar

Vikramaditya Singh has instructed the Sports Department to prepare the sports calendar for the next financial year. He said that efforts will be made to bring more budget for sports in the next financial year. Will try to bring new projects for the state in Khelo India also.

Katasni Stadium inspected

After taking a review meeting of the Sports Department at the Secretariat, Vikramaditya Singh went to see the indoor stadium being built at Katasani, adjacent to Shimla. He said that this stadium, being built at a cost of Rs 16 crore, would be ready within a year. Players will get good facilities in this.
