Reason- The earth is heating up rapidly and increasing pollution is adding ghee to the fire.

The atmosphere of our earth is changing very fast. It is not us, scientists from all over the world have said this in different reports. One such report has been prepared by the Climate Resilient Observing System Promotion Council (CROP) and the Indian Meteorological Department.

In the Annual Lightning Report 2021-22, it is found that in the year 2021-22, Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of incidents of lightning in the country. From April 2021 to March 2022, lightning struck 6 lakh 55 thousand 788 times in MP. Here the incidence of thunderstorms is increasing at the rate of 13.85% annually.

Since MP is a very large state geographically, the reasons for the increase in incidents of lightning in different areas are also different. According to the Bhopal Meteorological Center, 199 people have lost their lives in this thunderstorm in the last six and a half months, which is the highest in the last 10 years. There were 116 deaths in 2021 and 168 deaths in 2020.

More danger in these 9 districts… Bhind, Morena, Gwalior, Datia, Rewa, Sidhi, Singrauli, Seoni, Chhindwara

Our preparation is negligible: Even today there are no lightning drivers on private multi-storey buildings
1 There are no lightning drivers installed on private multi-storey buildings across the state, as there is no rule to install them in the MP Land Development Rules. Dr. Amit Kumar Gajbhiye, joint director of the Town and Country Planning Department, says that the National Building Code has rules only for government buildings.

Bhopal’s Chief City Planner Neeraj Anand Likhar said that there is no record of lightning drivers being installed on multi-storey buildings in Bhopal with the Municipal Corporation. Please tell that the permission for building construction in the city is issued from the city planner office of the Municipal Corporation. But there is no condition for installing a lightning driver in this permission.

Electricity fell in every part of Gwalior-Chambal, Bundelkhand, Mahakaushal, Vindhya, here 80% of accidents

An analysis of the incidents in the last one and a half months shows that 80% of the accidents have happened in the districts of Gwalior-Chambal, Bundelkhand, Mahakaushal, Vindhya. Chhatarpur has the highest number of 13 deaths. In Bhopal, Malwa and Nimar, there is a continuous lightning, but the accidents are less as compared to the northern and eastern parts.

More thunderstorms likely in 29 districts of MP

India’s Climate Hazards Vulnerability Atlas has been prepared by the Pune-based Climate Research and Service Office of the Indian Meteorological Department. According to this, 9 districts of MP are very sensitive and 20 districts are sensitive in case of lightning incidents.

Bhaskar Expert- Question: Why are the incidents of sudden lightning in MP increasing?

This is happening all over the world. Its frequency has increased in MP in 3 years. The increase in the temperature of the earth due to global warming and the generation of more aerosol particles due to air pollution are increasing the incidence of lightning strikes. This is changing the pattern of cloud formation. The amount of cloud condensation nuclease is increasing compared to before, which is increasing the sudden charge in high altitude and multilayer clouds.
