Heavy security is in place in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya for the state cabinet meeting which will be held for the first time in the city today in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The weekly state cabinet meeting is held in usually held in Lucknow.

Vishva Hindu Parishad in 1989 conducted a shilanyas’ (foundation stone laying) for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on November 9. All cabinet ministers have been asked to be in Ayodhya for the cabinet meeting at 11.30 am today, Ayodhya District Magistrate Nitish Kumar said.

The cabinet meeting will be held at 11 am in the Ram Katha Museum which has been decorated grandly with posters of Lord Shri Ram and Lord Hanuman in the cabinet meeting hall.

Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Nandi said, “The historic moment cannot be expressed in words. This day is historical and will be written in history in golden letters and we, the coming generations of this country and state.”

“Congratulations to respected Yogi ji and many thanks to the people of the state. Today’s agenda will be amazing and unprecedented and public interest will be at stake. Today’s meeting will be dedicated to the development of Ayodhya,” Cabinet Minister Jaiveer Singh said.

The construction of the ground floor of the three-storey Ram Mandir (Temple) in Ayodhya will be completed by December-end and the consecration ceremony is expected to take place on January 22, 2024, temple Construction Committee Chairperson Nripendra Mishra had told news agency PTI.

For the meeting today, ministers who are on election duty in other states have also been asked to ensure their presence. Some major announcements are also expected after the meeting, considering the importance of the location and the occasion, PTI reported.

After the cabinet meeting, the ministers will go for Ram Lalla’s ‘darshan’ and may take a round of the under construction Ram Temple and other prominent temples, including Hanumangarhi temple and Kanak Bhawan, official sources said.
