Heavy rain in Himachal from today: Meteorological Department issued yellow alert; Advisory for tourists to be careful

Yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued in Himachal Pradesh for the next five days from today. During this, there may be heavy rains in many areas. Dr. Surendra Pal, director of the Meteorological Center Shimla, has also appealed to the tourists to be careful.

Local people including tourists have also been advised not to venture into landslide prone areas. Dr. Pal told that roads and routes may be closed due to heavy rains. In such a situation, any tour program should be made keeping in view the weather.

On the other hand, during the last 24 hours, maximum rainfall of 21 mm was recorded in Nahan. Mandi received 14 mm of rain, Kangra 8 mm, Bilaspur 5 mm, Una 1 mm and Dalhousie 3 mm.

36% less rain than normal in a week

Monsoon has been weak in the state since last one week. Due to this, from June 27 to July 3, there has been 36 per cent less rainfall than normal. Except Shimla and Sirmaur districts, all other 10 districts have received less rainfall than normal. Not even a drop of water fell in Lahaul Spiti district.

Heavy rainfall between 24 and 27 June

At the same time, after the entry of monsoon, between June 24 and 27, 135 percent more rainfall than normal was recorded. Then due to heavy rains, there was heavy damage to government and private property and property worth Rs 274 crore was destroyed in four days. So far 28 people have lost their lives in the monsoon due to various reasons.

Six houses have been completely and 42 partially damaged due to heavy rains and landslides. Similarly, 353 domesticated cattle have also become the victim of famine. 27 roads in the state are still closed due to heavy rains.
