India is witnessing early summer heat this year. According to IMD, the heat broke the record of 121 years in March this year. The maximum temperature in March was 1.86 degrees Celsius above normal in the country’s warmest month since 1901.

According to the Meteorological Department, the average day temperature in the month of March was 33.01 degree Celsius. The highest temperature was recorded in North-West and Central India. The average temperature in the capital Delhi was recorded at 36.8 degree Celsius.

An official of the department said that we will have to see whether it will continue in the same way in the month of April as dry air is still blowing and there is no chance of rain for the next 10 days.

Rainfall is also 71% less than average
According to the Meteorological Department, March this year has received an average of 8.9 mm of rain, which is 71% less than the Long Period Average (LPA) of 30.4 mm. Earlier, March 1909 received 7.2 mm of rain, while 1908 had 8.7 mm of rain. In such a situation, last month this year has received the third lowest rainfall since 1901.

Heat wave warning in 9 states
While issuing an alert, IMD has said that in the next few days, heat wave may occur in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, East UP, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Vidarbha region. The department has appealed to the people to exercise caution during this period. The temperature in the national capital Delhi is likely to reach 40 to 41 degree Celsius between April 4 and 8.

Why did the heat start hurting ahead of time?
According to Skymet Weather, due to less effect of Western Disturbance in North India, the wind speed decreases. Hence the temperature rises. This year, the effect of western disturbance has ended in the third week of March. For this reason, the effect of severe heat was seen in North and Central India ahead of time. For this reason, in March this year, there were continuous dry and hot, westerly winds.
