Hearing on the bail of Sant Sharanaru of Murugha Math tomorrow: applied for bail on medical ground; Alleged sexual assault of two minors

The hearing on the bail application of the saint Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru of Murugha Mutt, accused of sexual harassment, will be held in the Chitradurga district court on Monday. The bail plea of ​​all the four accused, including Sharnaru, was put on Saturday, on which the court has sought the objection of the public prosecutor till Monday. According to sources, an application has been made for Sant’s bail on the medical ground. At present, Sharnaru is being questioned by the police at the DSP office in Chitradurga town.

Earlier on Friday, the district sessions court had sent Murugha Math chief priest Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru to four-day police custody. He will remain in police custody till September 5. According to reports, the police had sought five days’ custody from the bench. The saint was taken to the district hospital after he complained of chest pain.

Court expressed displeasure over being taken to hospital without informing
Sharanaru is accused of sexually assaulting two minor girls studying in the Math school. Sharanaru was arrested by the Karnataka Police on Thursday, but on Friday he was admitted to the hospital after suffering chest pain. District Sessions Court Judge Komla had expressed displeasure over the Lingayat saint being admitted to the hospital without informing the court. Along with this, orders were issued to bring him directly from the hospital to the court, after which the police presented him in the court on a wheel chair.

Admitted to the hospital after complaining of chest pain
Shivmurthy Murugh Sharnaru was admitted to the ICU of the district hospital after complaining of chest pain. Doctors say that Sharnaru’s ECG report has revealed a heart problem, so he will have to stay in the hospital for further investigation.

He was produced before the Child Welfare Committee in Mysore on 26 August and the same night a case was registered against 5 including Murugha Sharan under several sections.

Victim studies in Math school
The girls who made the allegations say that they study in a school run by the monastery, their age is 15 and 16 years. The saint sexually abused her for more than three and a half years. The victims left the hostel on 24 July and reached Cottonpet police station on 25 July. After this, on 26 August, he lodged an FIR against the Lingayat saint at Nazarabad police station in Mysore.
