Hearing in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case: CBI ordered to submit Tytler’s voice sample report in 5 days

In a case related to the killings during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the Delhi Court has asked the CBI to submit within 5 days the forensic report regarding the voice samples of accused Jagdish Tytler. Magistrate Vidhi Gupta Anand also deferred to July 26 the decision on whether to take cognizance of the charge sheet filed against Tytler in the case.

The investigating officer presented the fact in the court that the report of the voice samples has not been received yet. After which the hearing of the case was adjourned by the magistrate. Along with this, asked to present the voice sample report in the court on July 26. On May 20, the CBI filed a charge sheet against Tytler in this case.

The riots started after the assassination of Indira Gandhi.
On November 1, 1984, a day after the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, three people were killed and a gurdwara was torched in Pul Bangash area here. In its charge sheet filed before the court, the CBI said that Tytler instigated, incited and provoked the crowd gathered at Pul Bangash Gurdwara Azad Market on November 1, 1984. As a result of which the Gurudwara was burnt. Not only this, three Sikhs – Thakur Singh, Badal Singh and Guru Charan Singh were killed.

The CBI has charged Tytler with sections 147 (rioting), 109 (abetment) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the charge sheet.
