Haryana Schools to Remain Closed on October 21 Due to HSSC Group D Exam – News18

All government and private schools in Haryana will remain closed on Saturday, October 21, the Directorate of School Education has announced. The schools will be closed due to the HSSC Group D exam which is scheduled to be held on that day. Schools may fix classes on any other gazetted holiday if required, the department has added.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Haryana Staff Service Commission Central Eligibility Test (HSSC CET) for the recruitment of Group D posts. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on October 21 and 22 in two shifts with the morning shift from 10 AM to 11.45 PM and the second shift from 3.00 PM to 4.45 PM. The CET exam is conducted for the recruitment of individuals for the Group C posts in the state. It is a qualifying exam and those candidates who clear the exams are deemed eligible to appear in the CET Interviews.

Taking to microblogging site X, the Department of Public Relations, Haryana posted, “There will be a holiday in all the schools of Haryana on Saturday due to Group D examination of Haryana Staff Selection Commission. The Directorate of School Education has issued instructions in this regard.” The notice further added that any staff members not deputed for the exam duty will not be allowed to enter the exam centres keeping in view the sensitivity of the exam.

The HSSC Group D exam 2023 will be conducted in the offline mode comprising of 100 questions, each worth one mark. Questions in the exams Part A’s general awareness, reasoning, numeric ability, English, and Hindi sections will count for 75 per cent of the overall score. The remaining 25 per cent of the marks will be under Part B which will include Haryana’s history, current events, literature, geography, environment, and culture. The questions in the exam will be from the Class 10 level.
