New Delhi: Schools and colleges in Haryana will remain closed amid the Omicron threat. As COVID cases rise, the Haryana government has decided that no physical classes will be held in all schools and colleges in the state till January 26.
This comes as the state government has already imposed strict restrictions due to Coronavirus spread.
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar’s office made the announcement regarding the government’s decision on closing schools and colleges. “The Haryana government has decided to close all schools and colleges in the state till January 26 in view of the increasing number of cases of COVID-19. Online teaching will continue during this period, with schools and colleges focusing on preparing for the upcoming examination and taking necessary action,” the CMO tweeted.
Haryana’s government has imposed strict restrictions in the state earlier this month. Haryana government has placed 11 districts of the state in the red zone and entry to public places like Cinema hall, Park, and Gym is restricted.
COVID Cases In Haryana
The Coronavirus cases have been surging in Haryana. The state reported 5,736 fresh infections and five fatalities on Monday.
With two fatalities were from Ambala and a death each from Gurugram, Karnal, and Yamunanagar districts, the cumulative death toll in the state rose to 10,077, according to the health department’s daily bulletin.
The state also reported 26 fresh cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19 and the tally of such infections in the state rose to 162, out of which 17 are active while the rest have been discharged.
The total COVID case count in the state rose to 7,99,887 out of which 7,67,310 have recovered while the active cases in the state are 22,477.
Meanwhile, worst-hit Gurugram on Monday reported 2,621 fresh cases while Faridabad (1,071), Sonipat (322), Panchkula (344), and Ambala (303) districts also registered a spike in COVID cases, PTI reported.
The recovery rate was 95.93 percent, the bulletin stated.
