Gujarat ATS has got 14 days custody of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from Patiala House Court today. The Gujarat ATS has got Bishnoi’s custody in a cross-border drug smuggling case. Bishnoi will also be produced before a court in Kutch district by Friday, a senior ATS official said.
Indian Coast Guard chased and caught this Pakistani boat at a distance of 33 nautical miles from Jakhau Port.
Heroin smuggling case from Pakistan
The ATS team is looking to interrogate Bishnoi in last year’s drug smuggling case. In fact, in September last year, 40 kg of heroin was seized from a Pakistani fishing boat in the Arabian Sea. The cost of this heroin is more than Rs 200 crore. This batch of drugs was recovered from a boat named ‘Al Tayyasa’ that came from Pakistan. Along with this, five Pakistani nationals were also arrested.
During interrogation of Pakistani nationals, it was revealed that this consignment of heroin was ordered by Meeraj Rahmani and Ani Chief Obinna alias Chief (Nigerian national), who are lodged in Punjab jail. Both of them were running the gang while sitting in the jail of Punjab. Whereas, Rahmani and Obinna used to work for the Lawrence gang. According to the Punjab Police, both of them were running the racket through WhatsApp and VoIP (internet phone) calls.
In 2021, the Gujarat Police arrested Bhushan alias Bhola Shankar from Morbi and seized about 15 kg of drugs from him.
Inquiry has to be done even in a two year old case
Apart from this, Gujarat Police came to know about Bharat Bhushan alias Bhola Shankar in 2021 drug seizure case in Morbi. India was also a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He was smuggling drugs from Punjab jail itself. Recently he died in jail. In this case also ATS has to interrogate Lawrence.
