Grandfather of BJP worker Abhijit Sarkar killed in Navanne, letter of compensation to Chief Secretary

Abhijit Sarkar, a BJP activist from Kankurgachhi, was killed on the night of the announcement of the results of the Ekushey assembly elections. The CBI has also been given the task of investigating the case. The Calcutta High Court had handed over the investigation of Abhijit’s murder to the CBI. He even ordered compensation of Rs 15 lakh to Abhijit’s family. Although several months have passed since then. Compensation did not match. So this time the grandfather of the slain Abhijit reached Navanne with the documents of that instruction.

What exactly happened? ‌ Today, on Tuesday, BJP activist Abhijit Sarkar’s grandfather Biswajit Sarkar visited Navanne and met the Chief Secretary’s office. He then handed over the court documents. He also submitted a letter. It said the state government would have to pay the compensation within 15 days as per the court order. If not, they will file a contempt of court case.

What exactly happened to Abhijit? Allegedly, Abhijit Sarkar, a young BJP activist, was killed on his way home from the counting center on the night of Ekushey election results. There was a lot of confusion about the autopsy of his body. Abhijit Sarkar even had two autopsies. The body was buried a few months later.

The CBI is investigating the post-poll violence. However, so far the CBI has not been able to move forward with the assassination of Abhijit Sarkar. Recently, Trinamool Congress Beleghata MLA Paresh Pal was summoned to the CGO complex for questioning by CBI officials. And Abhijit’s grandfather Navanne has submitted the documents. It remains to be seen whether the state government will pay the compensation.
