The right to decide whether it will be mandatory for children to come to school or whether they can do online classes has been left to the state governments. In the guidelines issued by the Center, it was said that the states can decide to open schools based on the local situation. The decision on whether the children will go to school will be taken after talking to the parents. If children do not want to come to school, then there should be an exemption regarding attendance.

The Center has said that if there is enough space in the school, then children will be allowed to do other activities including sports, songs and music. School hours can be reduced. The distance between two students in the class room should be at least six feet. If any staff lives in the Containment Zone, then they will not be allowed to come to the school.
