Defense Cabinet meeting has approved the LCA MK2 fighter jet. The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) will design and develop this fighter jet. ADA head Girish Deoradhare said that the LCA MK2 is a 17.5 ton single engine aircraft. With its arrival in the Air Force, Mirage-2000, Jaguar and MiG-29 can be removed. The government has sanctioned about Rs 10,000 crore for this.

Girish said that the first flight of the fighter jet can be done in 2024. Its full development will take five years. Its full production will start by 2027. With the approval of this project, the LCA MK1A will also get a boost. Girish also told that the prototype of LCA MK2 will be developed in a year. The trial work will be completed at the time of development itself.
