Google Pixel 9 Series Launch In August This Year To Avoid Apple Stealing Its AI Limelight – News18

Google has decided to bring forward its big Pixel 9 launch event

Google usually launches the new Pixel phones in October but this year it is planning for an early launch, even before Apple iPhone event.

Google surprised everyone by sharing the Pixel 9 series launch teaser for August this year recently. The company usually waits for Samsung and Apple to do their big events, and use the remaining time of the year to unveil the Pixel flagships. So, what has changed in 2024 that has made Google tear up the playbook and start in a new way?

Reports say Google wants to do the Pixel 9 series launch before Apple unveils the new iPhone 16 lineup in September this year.

Now, most of you would ask, what has changed this year for Google to make such a big call? The Bloomberg report cites Apple’s possible hype around Apple Intelligence or AI that will be introduced with the iPhone 16 series later this year.

Google Stealing Apple’s Thunder?

The Pixel 9 or even the iPhone 16 launch this year is being pitted as the battle of smartphone AI. Both the tech giants have given us a preview of the features that Pixel and iPhone users can expect to get in the near future.

So, it seems Google has decided that instead of Apple stealing its AI thunder, it will bring its product launch forward and give Apple the same treatment. Having said that, most of you would agree that an iPhone 16 launch is bound to fetch a lot more eyeballs than a Pixel 9 series launch when it happens next month.

While Android is the biggest market share leader in the OS space, Pixels have barely scratched the surface. iPhones on the other hand offer an aspirational value that brings millions to watch the launch event in anticipation.

Google will be beaten to the AI push by Samsung which is doing its big foldable and AI event in July itself. But once again, there is no doubt that Apple is the big fish that everyone wants to follow and track each and every update from the company.
