Gaurav Yadav will be the new working DGP of Punjab. After DGP VK Bhavra went on leave, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab has given him the charge. He will take over as the acting DGP today. DGP VK Bhavra has gone on leave for 2 months from today. Apart from this, he has written a letter to go on deputation in the center. Which has been approved by the state government.

Now the state government will send a panel to UPSC for Permanent DGP. After which the permanent DGP will be appointed. However, for 6 months, the government can work as an executive DGP.

Gaurav Yadav, a 1992 batch IPS officer, was appointed as the Special Principal Secretary to CM Bhagwant Mann as soon as the government was formed.
