Former US President Donald Trump Calls Out Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony As ‘Disgrace’

Former United States President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump condemned the opening ceremony of the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics Games and called it a “disgrace”.

Trump’s remarks came after Catholic organisations and French bishops denounced a particular scene in the ceremony that saw the involvement of dancers, drag queens, and a DJ who was seen in striking poses reminiscent of the Last Supper. However, the creators, who have been facing the heat, have maintained that the event had no intention of depicting a religious event.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump said “I’m very open-minded but I thought what they did was a disgrace”. Catholic organisations and French bishops denounced a particular scene in the ceremony that saw the involvement of dancers, drag queens, and a DJ who was seen in striking poses reminiscent of the Last Supper.

However, the creators, who have been facing the heat, have maintained that the event had no intention of depicting a religious event.

On being questioned about his likely actions in the next edition of the Olympic Games, which is set to take place in Los Angeles, if he is reelected as president in time for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, the former US President said, “We won’t be having a ‘Last Supper’ as portrayed the way they portrayed it last night.”
