Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe Dies after Being Shot in Event, Shooter Held

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (67) dies after couple of gunshot during a campaign event in Nara city on Friday at around 11:30 am local time. This came as a surprise that Japan has the strictest gun laws in the world. However, the suspected shooter has been arrested.

Abe, who has served Japan as a Prime Minister for the longest time had just started his speech ahead of elections for the upper house of Parliament when the sound of firing was heard. It was heard twice before Abe fell unconscious with blood reeling out from his neck and chest.

It is believed that he suffered cardio and pulmonary arrest, saying that his heartbeat has stopped operating. He was rushed to Nara Medical University Hospital where the doctors after working ruthlessly on his treatment declared him dead.

World leaders pay their condolences

After the news of Abe’s death circulated, several world leaders, pay their deep thoughts on the death news of Abe including India Prime Minister Narendra Modi who took to Twitter to pay his condolences to the ex-Japanese counterpart stating, “shocked and saddened on the demise of my dearest friend, Shinzo Abe”.
