The statement of former CM Digambar Kamat, who joined BJP, has come to the fore amidst the political upheaval in Goa. All the MLAs had reached the assembly along with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and submitted a letter to Speaker Ramesh Tavkar to break away from the Congress.

The MLAs who quit the Congress include former Goa CM Digambar Kamat, Michael Lobo, Delia Lobo, Kedar Naik, Rajesh Faldesai, Alexo Scria, Sankalp Amolkar and Rodolfo Fernandez.

Kamat said – it is true that he took oath not to leave Congress
Kamat said that he believed in God. It is true that before the election he had taken oath not to leave the Congress. But he dismissed himself easily. He said that I went to the temple again and told God that it is coming to my mind that I should join BJP. God what should I do? God told me to go ahead don’t worry, do what is best for you.

Before the election, Rahul had administered the oath
In February before the assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi had administered an oath to all the Congress candidates not to leave the party for 5 years. Congress had also got all the candidates to sign an affidavit during this period. While giving an affidavit, the MLAs had said that they would not leave the party for 5 years and would continue to serve the people of Goa by staying in the Congress.

Congress said- Now people have to know before giving ticket
Congress leader Dinesh Gundu Rao took a jibe at Kamat and said that Kamat had given many big statements. Oaths were also taken in temples. This shows how bankrupt they have become. He said that we have to first know what kind of people we give tickets to, for whom power is everything, ideology is nothing.
