The next season of Bigg Boss, one of the most popular Hindi television reality shows, is right around the corner. Rumours surfaced recently that Salman Khan’s former co-star and ex-girlfriend, Somy Ali, had been asked by the producers to appear in Bigg Boss 18.

In a recent interview with IANS, Somy denied the claims and labelled it as a plot to boost the show’s viewership. The former actor has refuted reports that the show’s creators approached her.
Somy Ali stated that the filming time of the show is too long for her to quit her non-profit organisation, No More Tears. The actress branded the show as made up, claiming that she had not seen a single episode of Bigg Boss.
“I can’t leave my non-profit organisation to be a part of a show whose filming duration is far too long. I say this with the utmost respect for the show that I have not watched a single episode of it and have no idea what it entails. I have heard it’s scripted and I was going to be a contestant, something I have never conversed about with anyone from the show who works behind the scenes,” Somy said.

The actress went on to say that it was a ploy to improve the show’s ratings and added, “I have never spoken to anyone from the show. Even if I am called as a contestant, I will not go. To be honest, all these things are a strategy to increase ratings, which networks often do. I have no intention of participating in any scripted reality show.”
Somy Ali reportedly dated Salman Khan for eight years in the 90s. The two also collaborated in ‘Buland’, howeever, the film was never released. The couple broke up in 1999. Somy later accused Salman of infidelity. The former appeared in around 10 films throughout her relatively brief Bollywood career. The actress was last seen in the 1997 film ‘Chupp’.
