For the first time in UPSC, 34% women are successful, in top 4: For the first time, 54 Hindi medium candidates were successful, 16 in top 20 from North India

The daughters of the country have once again done wonders. In the country’s most prestigious UPSC exam, daughters occupied the top-4 places. This is the second year in a row that girls have occupied the top-3 positions. 6 girls made it to the top-10 and 14 girls made it to the top-25.

Girls topped for the 8th time in 13 years. Out of 913 successful candidates, the share of women was 320. That is, with 34% participation, this is the most successful year in terms of women. Ishita Kishore from Noida, who graduated from Delhi’s Shri Ram College of Economics, topped the list.

54 candidates of Hindi medium were successful. Delhi, Delhi University and those with engineering background dominated. In the top-20, there are 6 DU graduates, one Delhi IIT graduate and two Delhi Technological University students. Swati, who got 15th rank in Madhya Pradesh, and Gunjita, who got 26th rank in Bhopal, stood first. 33 candidates were successful from MP.

16 candidates from North India in top-20, 60% succeed in third or fourth attempt

Only 17 graduates in top-20: In the top-20, 17 are only graduates. Three have master’s degrees. There are 9 who have B.Tech or BE degree. There are two B.Sc and one MBBS. All the five graduates in the Arts stream are from DU. Two are commerce and one is law graduate.

Anthropology subject near 5 in top-20: Maximum 5 candidates have Anthropology as an optional subject in the top-20. The subject of 3 candidates including Rank-1 was Political Science and International Relations. Two candidates each (10-10%) are from Zoology, Sociology, Economics, Commerce, Maths, History, Electrical Engineering, Philosophy and Law.

Maximum 5 in top-20 from UP and 3-3 from Bihar and Delhi: Maximum 5 of the top-20 successful candidates are from UP. Three each from Delhi and Bihar, two each from Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana, one each from Telangana, Assam, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan.

35% succeeded in the third and 25% in the fourth attempt: Four candidates in the top-20 were successful in their first attempt. 35% succeeded in the third and 25% in the fourth attempt. Bhaskar expert Vikas Divyakirti (Founder, Drishti IAS) said that this time the results of UPSC Civil Services Examination are very special. The reason for this is that in the 2022 batch, 54 candidates have been successful through Hindi medium.

This is the best performance of Hindi in the history of UPSC. Last year, 24 such candidates were successful in the result of 2021 batch. That is, the graph of Hindi is continuously improving. This time, three candidates have achieved success at 66th, 85th and 89th rank in the top-100.

Hindi medium topper Kritika Mishra, who secured 66th rank, is a resident of Kanpur. Divya Tanwar has secured 105th rank this time. In the 2021 batch also, Divya had secured 438th rank and was selected as the youngest (just 22 years) IPS. Now she has become IAS.

The most important thing in these results is that out of 54 candidates, 29 have achieved this success by taking Hindi literature as an optional subject. Five candidates each were also successful who had taken History, Geography and Political Science subjects. Two students have achieved success in Hindi medium by taking Mathematics subject, out of which one has secured 120th rank. These children studied with us throughout the day in the library.
