First list of BJP-Congress released for Tripura elections: BJP declared 48 candidates, Congress declared 17 candidates

Congress has given ticket to Ashish Kumar Saha to compete with CM Manik Saha.

On Saturday, the Congress released the list of candidates for the Tripura assembly elections. The party has announced the names of 17 candidates in the first phase. The Congress has again fielded Sudip Roy Barman from Agartala. Congress has given ticket to Ashish Kumar Saha from Town Bardowali seat to take on CM Manik Saha.

Before Congress, BJP released the list of candidates for 48 seats for Tripura elections. The party also announced that Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik will contest the elections. Pratima will contest from Dhanpat seat.

Polling will be held in Tripura on February 16 and the result will be out on March 2. There will be elections for 60 assembly seats here.

Tripura Legislative Assembly: Seats- 60, Majority- 31

Elections were held on 59 seats in the state in 2018. BJP emerged as the single largest party. Got 35 seats. The BJP had demolished the stronghold of the Left for 25 years. Earlier Biplab Dev was made the CM, but in May 2022 Manik Saha was made the Chief Minister. CPM and Congress have joined hands to stop BJP in the upcoming elections. There is also another big party Mamta Banerjee’s TMC, which can give competition to BJP.

Many people got injured in this. Congress leader Dr. Ajay Kumar was injured in the clash. Dr. Ajay Kumar, who was the state president of Jharkhand Congress, is currently in charge of Tripura, Nagaland and Sikkim. He is a member of the Congress Working Committee and the national spokesperson.

Election dates announced simultaneously in 3 states
The Election Commission announced the dates for the assembly elections of Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland on 17 January. Tripura will go to polls on February 16. Voting will be held in Meghalaya and Nagaland on February 27. The results of all the states will be announced on March 2. An interesting feature of these elections is that the majority mark in all the three states is 31.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar said that the participation of women voters is high in all the three states and there is not much electoral violence here. We are committed to fair elections here.

Last Date of Withdrawal: Tripura – February 2, Meghalaya-Nagaland – February 10
