Father arranges lavish baarat for daughter in Uttar Pradesh’s Muradabad

Rajesh Sharma arranged a baarat for his daughter’s marriage.

By India Today Web Desk: In a unique pre-wedding ritual, a father arranged a marriage procession or a baarat with drums and full pomp for his daughter. Generally, such practice is seen from the groom’s side where the man is seated on a horse and is surrounded by relatives on the way to the bride’s house. However, this unusual ritual was seen in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad.

Rajesh Sharma, a resident of Himgiri Colony located in Ram Ganga Vihar, Moradabad, who is the State General Secretary of the All India Yearly Brahmin Mahasabha, wished to give equal rights to his daughter Sweta Bhardwaj, on the occasion of her marriage.

The girl’s father said that he wished to marry his daughter with equal rights that are given to a man. Everyone cooperated with him and he got his daughter’s procession taken out.

Rajesh Sharma said that this step of his will bring a change in the mindset of discrimination between daughters and sons.

Sharma wanted to celebrate his 27-year-old daughter’s wedding in a traditional way and mentioned that arranging for a baarat made him extremely happy and content.
