Faridabad sees highest spike in 7 months with 141 cases in a day | Gurgaon News – Times of India

Faridabad: The city on Tuesday reported 141 cases on Tuesday. This is the highest single-day spike since May 27, when it recorded 158 cases. On Monday, Faridabad reported 110 cases. The number of active cases has also increased from 435 on Monday to 572 on Tuesday, a health official said.
Four patients recovered from the infection on Tuesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 99,348. Of these 572 active cases, 565 are in home isolation, while seven people were admitted to dedicated Covid-19 hospitals and Covid-19 health centres. The positivity rate has also increased to 3.9%.
“We have ramped up sample testing from 1,200 to around 3,600 daily. Our teams, including incident commanders and staffers of the administration, have been deployed for contact tracing. The number of containment zones will also increase with the rise in number of Covid cases,” said Dr Rambhagat, deputy civil surgeon, Faridabad.
Meanwhile, a health official said, 29,370 people, including children aged 15-17 years, were vaccinated at 72 session sites on Tuesday. Of 29,370 people, 5,512 in the age group of 15-17 years, were vaccinated.
“We have constituted 60 teams to vaccinate those in the age group of 15-17 years. These teams will be deployed at prominent schools and complete vaccination in two days in those schools. Earlier, we were vaccinating 10,000 to 12,000 people every day and now we have increased vaccination to 25,000,” added Dr Rambhagat.
Faridabad deputy commissioner Jitneder Yadav said penalties will be imposed on those violating Covid protocols and government guidelines issued to control the spread of Covid.
