Fake center caught in Delhi, 4 arrested: Fraud in the name of getting job in multinational company, cheated 250 engineering students

Police have arrested 4 people including a graduate engineer who was running the fake call centre. It is alleged that in a year, about 250 students have been cheated by promising to get jobs in a multinational company and IT company. The names of the accused are Amir Zeesham (31), Rahul Singh Rajawat (31), Rekha (25) and Shivam Sharma.

According to the police, the accused used to conduct online tests and interviews of the students, and then used to demand money equivalent to three months’ salary in the name of getting them job offer letters. Zeesham had worked in a few companies after completing his B.Tech in Computer Science. Where he learned how to hire people and left the job in 2021. The accused used to earn around Rs 3 lakh a month.

The police raided and arrested the thugs.  Mobile phones, laptops and some SIM cards have been recovered from them.

This is how the case was revealed…
Manish Gupta (21), a resident of Delhi’s Shakarpur area, had applied on one of the online job portals while looking for a job. After a few days, he got a call in which he was told to give the job of an accountant in HDFC Bank. For this, 1500 rupees were demanded from him in the name of registration fee. Which was transferred by Manish. After this, the thugs took his online test and interview over the phone and then sent him the offer letter through email.

After a few days, he got about 18500 rupees transferred to a bank account in the name of laptop charge, salary account, health insurance, dress and shoes, saying that it would be refunded after one year. But when he was asked for 22500 rupees in the name of dispatching the parcel, he suspected that he had been cheated, so he complained about the matter to the police. During this, the thugs had taken 69 thousand rupees from Manish.

The call center was running from Delhi’s Dwarka Nagar
Delhi Police DCP Jitendra Kumar Meena said that on January 3, a complaint of fraud was received at the cyber station. After which he started the investigation. They came to know that this fake call center was being run from Dwarka Nagar Sector 7. After this, he took the accused of the raid into custody.

Rented a flat worth Rs 15,000
Investigation has revealed that the accused had taken a flat of Rs 15,000 on rent. In which he was running the call center for the last 6 months. Both Zeesham and Rahul Rajawat were partners. Rekha and Shivam were hired by him. Rekha used to get SIM cards and bank accounts arranged on commission.
