Two non-local tourists have been injured after terrorists fired on an open tourist camp near Pahalgam in south Kashmir on Saturday night, police officials informed. The incident took place at Yanner in Pahalgam tourist resort in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Simultaneously, in another attack, a former sarpanch, associated with the BJP, was killed in the terror attack in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the police, the non-local couple was a resident of Rajasthan and were identified as Farha and Tabrez. The injured couple has been shifted to the hospital and are receiving treatment.

Informing about the incident, Kashmir Zone Police took to X and wrote, “Terrorist fired upon and injured a lady Farha R/O Jaipur and spouse Tabrez at Yannar, Anantnag. Injured evacuated to hospital for treatment. Area cordoned off. Further details shall follow.”

In another attack, terrorists shot at and injured a former sarpanch in Shopian district. The sarpanch, identified as Aijaz Ahmad, later succumbed to his injuries.

BJP Reacts

Responding to the incident, the BJP condemned the terror attack. Terming Aijaz Ahmad was a brave soldier of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Jammu and Kashmir, the party said that it stands firmly with his family.

“We strongly condemn the killing of ex-Sarpanch Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh in Heerpora, Shopian, South Kashmir, by terrorists today. Aijaz Ahmad was a brave soldier of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP firmly stands with the family of Aijaz Ahmad, who lost his life in this terror attack,” BJP spokesperson said.
