Reports claim that in addition to certain Premier League sides, Spanish clubs Valencia and Real Sociedad are monitoring Mason Greenwood and could be set to make a move for the footballer in the summer.

English footballer Mason Greenwood’s career was mired in controversy after allegations of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault were levelled against him. Criminal proceedings against the former Manchester United footballer were “discontinued” earlier this year in February.

After an investigation into his conduct, Manchester United decided to suspend Greenwood and the English international joined Getafe on loan during the summer transfer window. There is still no certainty on Greenwood’s return to Manchester United and it is now being learnt that some other clubs are closely observing the forward’s progress at Getafe. Having moved to Spain, Greenwood has so far scored four goals in 11 matches across all competitions for Getafe.

A report published by The Sun claimed that Spanish sides Valencia and Real Sociedad are “monitoring” Mason Greenwood and could be set to make a move for the footballer in the summer. The source even went on to suggest that it seems highly unlikely for Greenwood to return to Old Trafford.

“Mason has done brilliantly since he moved to Spain and is really catching the eye after a strong start to his time at Getafe. There are a number of clubs looking at him in Spain with scouts from Valencia and Sociedad seemingly at the front of the queue. It is highly unlikely Mason will return to Manchester United,” the source was quoted as saying by The Sun.

Another report published by Spanish outlet AS claimed that a number of representatives from Premier League clubs were in attendance at the Coliseum where Mason Greenwood scored in the 33rd minute to guide Getafe to a 2-1 La Liga win against Almeria last week.

Greenwood is still under contract with Manchester United until the 2025 summer but Getafe are understood to have been interested in retaining him for the next season. Getafe are reportedly planning to ask for Greenwood’s stay to be prolonged at the Coliseum by extending his loan for at least one more season.

Meanwhile, Mason Greenwood is understood to be enjoying his ongoing stint at Getafe. Greenwood had scored 35 goals in 129 appearances for Manchester United having made his Red Devils debut as a teenager in 2019.
