Erzurum Sprint International Cup: Dhanalakshmi did wonders, beat Hima Das in 100 as well as 200 meters race

Indian sprinter Dhanalakshmi Sekar defeated India’s star sprinter Hima Das in the 100m race at the Erzurum Sprint International Cup in Turkey. Dhanalakshmi clocked 11.26 seconds to finish first. This is his best performance on an individual level. Hima Das took 11.59 seconds. She placed second.

Dhanalakshmi’s effort was well above the benchmark set by the Athletics Federation of India for the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games. Dhanalakshmi also won the 200 meters with a timing of 23.26 seconds. Hima finished second with a timing of 23.51 seconds.

The Indian team went to Turkey for training as well as competition. The team will now return home to participate in the National Inter-State Championship in Chennai. The tournament will be held from June 10 to 14.

Dhanalakshmi Sekar hails from Tamil Nadu. He was born on 5 June 1998. Dhanalakshmi lost her father in her childhood. Mother took full responsibility of the house. Dhanalakshmi has two more sisters. Dhanalakshmi is the eldest of the three sisters. He chose the sport to drive home. She wanted to take a government job with the help of this. Dhanalakshmi became a runner in 2017 after failing in Kho-Kho. He participated in the 2020 Olympics.

Dhanalakshmi had qualified to compete in the mixed 4×400m event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, but was not featured in the 4×400m mixed relay event.
