Till 12 noon today, signs of floods have started appearing in Araria, Katihar, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Saharsa, Sitamarhi, Sheohar and Supaul. Among these, the Kosi in Supaul and the Nuna river of Araria have started wreaking havoc from now on. More than 40 and about 4 lakh population of at least two blocks of both the districts have been affected by the water flow. Due to erosion here, more than 100 houses have already been submerged in the river. The major reason for the increased water level in both the rivers is the heavy rains in Nepal.

The water level in 7 out of 11 rivers of the state has been rising continuously in the last 3 days. Among them, Bagmati is flowing above the danger mark at Kataujha and Beniabad in Muzaffarpur, while Kambalan is flowing above the danger mark at Jhanjharpur in Madhubani. Ganga and Punpun (Patna, Munger and Bhagalpur), Bagmati (Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga), Budhi Gandak (Samastipur and Khagaria), Kamala Balan (Madhubani), Kheri (Darbhanga), Kosi (Katihar) and Mahananda (Purnia) The water level is continuously increasing.

  • Araria – The Nuna river is in spate in the district’s Sikti. A huge amount of water has been released from Nepal, which has created a flood situation in the Nuna river. Due to this, water has entered the houses of people in many villages of Sikti.
  • Katihar – The water level of Mahananda, Ganga and Kosi passing through the district has increased, although they have not reached the danger mark yet. Due to the increase in the water level of Mahananda, erosion has started in Mahinagar under Shikarpur Panchayat of Kadwa.
  • Kishanganj – The water level of Mahananda flowing through the district is increasing and decreasing. It is flowing 0.5 meters below the danger mark till 8 am today. The administration has started preparing for flood relief.
  • Madhepura – The water level in the Kosi river passing through the district continues to rise. On Sunday, a well-shaped structure dug to make a pillar in the Kosi river for the state-of-the-art four-lane bridge under construction between Phulaut and Bihpur on NH 106 submerged in water. The reason for this is said to be the erosion of the soil on one side of the structure due to the rise in the water level of the river.
  • Darbhanga – With the onset of monsoon, the water level of the Kosi and Kamla Balan rivers passing through the eastern block has started rising rapidly. As the water level of Kamla Balan, Kosi and Kareh rivers started to rise due to the rains, the bamboo Chachari bridges built temporarily at Chowkia Ghat, Usri Garib Ghat, Kola Ghat were submerged in water.
  • Madhubani – The process of increasing and decreasing the water level in Kamla river has started in Jaynagar of the district. On Sunday, the water level of Kamala has increased by 75 cm. It is being told that if the rain continues in Nepal’s water acquisition area, the water level may increase further.
  • Purnia – The water level of Mahananda river has started rising in the Biasi sub-division area of ​​the district. Though Mahananda is flowing 64 cm below its danger mark of 35.65 meters at Dangraha Ghat, the erosion has intensified at many places as water spread in the lower parts of the area due to rise in water level. The problems of the people of Chanki village of Madwagaon and Tarabari Panchayat have increased.
  • Sarhasa – As soon as the three main streams of the Kosi river rise, water has started spreading inside the embankment of Mahishi area. After the rain in the lowlands of Nepal and the release of water from the Kosi barrage, water has started spreading in the low-lying areas. Problems have started increasing in the movement of Diara residents in the Salkhua area. Apart from Chanan, Alani panchayat of the area, the water of Kosi river has started spreading in the lower areas of other panchayat area.
  • Sitamarhi – There is a continuous increase in the water level at various ghats of the Bagmati river. Along with Hardi, Marha, Rato, Lalbakaiya, the water of old Dhar of Bagmati, Manushmara etc. has also started spreading in Sareh. Due to this, roads have been flooded in many areas of Majorganj, Sonbarsa and Sursand.
  • Sheohar – Due to the boom of Bagmati in Belwa of Sheohar, water has flooded the Sheohar-Motihari road. Due to which the movement of all vehicles small and big on this road has come to a standstill.
  • Supaul – The water level of Kosi river is rising in Virpur of the district. Kosi has crossed the danger mark in Basua. In Bela Goth village of Kishanpur, Kosi has started engulfing people’s homes. Here in the beginning of June, 41 houses have come under erosion.
