In Madhya Pradesh, the government has announced to start MBBS in Hindi. Earlier, engineering studies in Hindi were started, but the fate of this project has become very bad. Bhaskar The investigation revealed that in only 3 colleges, B.Tech and Computer Science studies have been started in Hindi. Only 20 students have taken admission in this, while the seats are more than 200.

This means that 90% of the seats that the government had reserved, have remained vacant. Even the teachers are tensed about teaching the technical subject locally. After the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in Madhya Pradesh, engineering studies were started in Hindi in the last year (2021-22). That year less than 10 students had opted to study in Hindi.

Hindi option in 3 institute itself

On June 6, 2022, the state government had also issued an order to teach in Hindi in different branches of 6 engineering colleges of the state. In these, during the online counseling of the Department of Technical Education for admission, the option of teaching in Hindi (Indian / Regional Language) has been given only in the branches of 3 institutes. All three institutes are from Indore, including SGSITS. Out of this, 20 students have taken admission in 2 institutes, while no admission has taken place in one.

Out of these 20, 19 students have opted for Computer Science and one student has opted for Bio-Medical Engineering subject in Hindi. Aman Verma, a biomedical student, has also joined hands with Hindi and has applied through English medium. Aman says that he is not understanding anything. Common English words have been given in very difficult Hindi. I am worrying about my future whether I will get job with this degree in future or not.

Not a single admission in government college

The government is pushing hard to teach engineering in Hindi. Despite this, no student has chosen Hindi medium for studies in any government engineering college. It was decided to teach in Hindi also in 5 branches (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Science) of Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (RGPV), Bhopal’s University Institute of Technology (UIT) and RGPV’s SIT Shivpuri. But during the online counseling process conducted by the Department of Technical Education (DTE) for admission, the students were not given the option of these institutes.

According to an official of the Technical Education Department, counseling is conducted by DTE for admission in AICTE approved branch. Except the institute of Indore, no other institute has got the approval to teach regional language, so Hindi will be taught in other government institutes including RGPV. This information is not being given by DTE.

Faculty problem- how to teach in Hindi?

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has given the responsibility of preparing engineering books in Hindi to RGPV. 20 engineering books have been translated into Hindi for the first year, including 9 for UG classes and 11 for diploma courses. Books in Hindi subject are also available in these branches, but experts say that the biggest mistake made while translating English engineering books into Hindi is that technical words are also translated, which will create trouble for both students and teachers. .

Giving examples, he said that there is no need to translate technical terms like force and gravitational force. Everyone understands these words. Unfortunately the technical terms in these books have been translated into classical Hindi and this will affect the studies. He said that teachers have to first learn Hindi technical words for teaching.

President of MP Association of Technical Professional Institute Prof. KC Jain did not directly oppose engineering studies. He said- There is confusion about the method of studying engineering. Presently studies are mixed. Hindi is spoken only in the class room, so that the students of both the mediums can easily understand the subject.

then we have to give jobs like china

Retired professor RK Mandloi, who taught mechanical engineering at the national institute for 30 years and was part of several government committees, is questioning the option of studying engineering in Hindi.

Mandloi says- Look, by taking a degree in Hindi, jobs can be found in the work of internal development of the state or the country. Then the government will have to provide job opportunities for Hindi degree holders, as China did till a few years ago. In that country, studies in other branches including engineering were conducted in Chinese language only. Due to this China made its internal development.

What problem will the faculty face if engineering is taught in Hindi? On this Mandloi says that if we translate technical words into Hindi, then naturally there will be trouble. The biggest problem will be for the student. The reason for this is that many English words are used in the colloquial language of Hindi. Translating them in any way would create trouble for both the faculty and the student. There is no use in translating engineering books into Hindi.

Engineering studies stopped in Atal Bihari Hindi University

The engineering course introduced in Hindi in 2016 was put on hold for lack of approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath raised questions on engineering studies in Hindi. On October 16, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had released the books to start MBBS studies in Hindi, then Kamal Nath had said – Engineering studies in Hindi were started in Bhopal-based Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University in 2016.

Exaggerated claims were made about it too, why did that course have to be closed later? The government should also tell why the beginning of engineering studies in Hindi in this university had to be stopped midway. He also said that Hindi is our mother tongue. Everyone respects this. There is no objection from anyone about studying in Hindi.
