The government presented the information in the parliament about how many people have died in the last three years due to elephant attacks. According to the government, 1500 people have died in elephant attacks in the last three years. However, 27 elephants were also killed by poachers during this period. Union Minister of State for Environment Ashwini Kumar Choubey has presented the information. Su Thirunavukkarasar of Congress raised questions about it. At that time, the minister presented the account. He wanted to know where the conflict between elephants and humans has gone in the last few years, whether it is increasing or not.

According to the data presented by the Union Minister, it appears that the conflict between humans and elephants has increased slightly in the last three years. There were 585 such incidents in 2019-20. There were 461 such incidents in 2020-21. However, last year the death toll was slightly higher at 535. According to the information received from several state governments, the Union Minister said this.

Meanwhile, he also informed about the current number of elephants. According to the calculations presented by him, there are about 30000 i.e. 299964 elephants in India. Karnataka has the largest number of elephants. There are 6049 elephants.

Along with this, he has also presented an account of the death of the elephant. He said that 41 elephants have died in train accidents in the last three years. 198 elephants died due to electrocution. Poachers killed 27 elephants. 8 elephants died due to poisoning. In his reply, he said that the staff of the forest department is taking all the steps by discussing with the common people and keeping in touch with them. Common people are warned again and again so that conflicts between humans and elephants do not increase. Every effort is made to save the lives of common people and elephants.

Along with this, he said that the central government always cooperates with the states and Union Territories through the Project Elephant project. Various initiatives have been taken to reduce the conflict between humans and elephants. There is a compensation system in case of rampaging elephants in the area. He also said that a guideline has been drawn up to avoid conflict between elephants and humans. So far 33 elephant reserves have been created. Various plans have been taken to prevent the death of elephants by talking to the Indian Railways.
