The Union Government on Monday introduced the Electricity Amendment Bill 2022 in the Lok Sabha by Energy Minister RK Singh. Opposition parties strongly opposed it. The opposition called it a step towards privatization of the electricity industry. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that the bill violates the cooperative movement. At the same time, it is going to reduce the rights of the states. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP patriarch Arvind Kejriwal said that the Electricity Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha. This law is very dangerous, which will make the electricity problem in the country worse instead of improving. This will increase the sufferings of the common people, only a few companies will benefit. There is an appeal to the Center not to hurry in bringing this bill. After opposition from the opposition, the Energy Minister has requested to send this bill to the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
