Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Wednesday issued a helpline number – 8455885031 – for people so that they can inform the Railways about touts who cheat aspirants by promising jobs in the national transporter.
“If anybody asks for a bribe, promising to provide someone a job in the Railways or if anyone has any information about corruption, the person can inform through the ECoR’s vigilance helpline number,” said an official source.
“The railway zone has appealed to job aspirants and their relatives not to fall prey in the hands of frauds who collect money by falsely promising jobs in the Railways. Several fraud cases have come to the knowledge of the Railways in the recent times. Innocent people are being cheated by racketeers despite several steps taken by the Railways to control the tout menace,” said an ECoR statement.
The ECoR said the Railway Recruitment Board or the rail ministry never nominates any agent or an outsourcing agency for recruitment. “Get a job through merit and hard work. Don’t fall prey to touts, brokers and racketeers,” said a senior official.
