Draupadi Murmu hails from Mayurbhanj in Odisha, she became the first tribal woman governor of Jharkhand.

NDA has approved the name of former Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu for the post of the country’s next President. Murmu’s name was agreed upon after the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting on Tuesday evening. All the big leaders of the party including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda attended this meeting.

Draupadi Murmu, 64, who was the ninth governor of Jharkhand, hails from Mayurbhanj in Odisha. She has been an MLA from Rairangpur in Odisha itself. He is the first Odia leader to be made the governor. Prior to this, she was also a minister in the BJP-BJD coalition government from 2002 to 2004. Murmu has also been the first tribal woman governor of Jharkhand.

Opposition made Yashwant Sinha its candidate
Here, the opposition has decided former Union Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Yashwant Sinha as its presidential candidate. Sinha then resigned from the Trinamool Congress. In a social media post, he had indicated that he was ready to join the race for the presidential election. We are going to file nomination for Presidential election on June 27 at 11.30 am, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said at the opposition meeting in New Delhi.

Sinha wrote – I am grateful to Mamta ji
Sinha said in the post, ‘I am grateful to Mamta ji for the respect and prestige she has given me in TMC. Now the time has come for me to break away from the party for a bigger cause so that I can work to unite the opposition. I hope Mamta ji will accept this step of mine.

Big leaders withdrew from the presidential election
Till now many big leaders have withdrawn from the presidential election race. Former West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi on Monday withdrew from the presidential election. Before him, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah had also refused to be the opposition’s presidential candidate.

Last date for filing nominations June 29
On June 15, the process of electing a new President has started. The last date for filing nominations is June 29. If there is a need to hold elections, it will be held on July 18 and the results will be out in July itself.
