For the first time, the country’s top media organizations will come together under DNPA Dialogues to interact with people from government, academia and business industry.

For the first time in the country, ‘DNPA Dialogues’ is going to be held regarding the changing relationship between digital media and big tech companies. This first of its kind round-table conference in the country will be held on 25 November. It will be hosted by Digital News Publishers Association (DNPA). The purpose of this event is to discuss the antitrust practices of big tech companies and security mechanisms for news publishing organizations.

Australia’s former antitrust veteran Rod Sims will be the keynote speaker at this event to be held in the form of a webinar. He is a former chair of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). He is working on behalf of the Australian government to resolve a dispute over revenue sharing between the Australian news media and big tech companies.

Focus on the challenges of the digital news industry
This India-based discussion will focus solely on the challenges the digital news industry faces due to its relationships with big tech companies. This will be the first dialogue with such a discussion. In fact, the digital branch of the traditional news industry in India and many parts of the world has been questioning the antitrust monopolistic practices of big tech companies.

Indian media will be able to know the experience of foreign media
Through this dialogue, Indian digital media will get an excellent platform and forum, where it will be able to know the experiences of media industry of other countries. The Indian news industry will also be able to understand what steps have been taken by the governments and the legislature there to support the digital media.

Lawyers, teachers, media schools, technology companies, policy makers and enforcement agencies, top members of Indian media leadership, think tanks including Big-4, journalists and writers, industry and business chambers, media associations, advertisers on this platform Including many profession, community, institution and industry leaders will be involved.

DNPA is an umbrella organization for the digital wing of media companies, which has started taking action in the last few years to maintain a level playing field and fairness for all news publishers. This organization consists of 17 media publishers. These are- Dainik Bhaskar, Dainik Jagran, Indian Express, Malayalam Manorama, ETV, India Today Group, Times Group, Amar Ujala, Hindustan Times, Zee News, ABP Network, Lokmat, NDTV, New Indian Express, Hindu, Network 18 and Mathrubhumi .

Second edition of DNPA Dialogues on 9th December
Its second edition will be hosted on 9th December, 15 days after the start of DNPA Dialogues on Friday. This will also be in webinar format. It will focus on the entire European Union and North America. Now DNPA Dialogues will be hosted regularly in India.

DNPA Chairman Tanmay Maheshwari told that for the first time we will see a discussion between media representatives to improve the publisher-platform relationship. Through these events, we aim to create a better and safer way for India’s digital news ecosystem. On the other hand, DNPA General Secretary Sujata Gupta said, ‘DNPA Dialogues will prove to be an important milestone in our journey to find ways to improve the digital media landscape.’
