New Delhi: Dhanteras is the first day, to begin the Diwali celebrations. According to the Hindu calendar, it is observed on the thirteenth day of the moon’s waning phase (known as Krishna Paksha) in the month of Ashwin (October–November). On this day, numerous rituals and pujas are held. The purchase of new metal objects, especially gold and silver, is one example of such a practice. Hindus have long practised the custom of buying metals, particularly gold, as well as electronic items as it is considered that this brings the buyer fortune, wealth, good health, and knowledge.
