Delhi Police busts interstate gang of robbers, arrest accused after brief gunfight

A gang of interstate robbers were arrested on Saturday by the Delhi Police after a brief gun fight in the Seemapuri area of the national capital.

The team of Special Staff, Shahdara District busted the gang and seized two stolen bikes, one pistol, three revolvers, 37 live cartridges, pepper spray, and a hammer from their possession.

With the arrest of these four accused, the sensational robbery case of MS Park in which Rs 3 lakhs was robbed at gunpoint from a collection agent in January has been cracked.

After receiving a complaint from the 39-year-old collection agent of Versha Udyog in Bawana, the team of Special Staff conducted an investigation.

The police scanned over 1000 CCTV cameras on the stretch of approx 120km from the scene of the crime i.e. MS Park to Khurja outskirt) in the last one month and developed local intelligence before apprehending the robbers.

They found that the base of these criminals was Khurja village, in UP’s Bulanshahr. The accused committed crimes using stolen motorcycles with fake number plates and firearms.

DCP Shahdara R Sathiyasundaram said, “The CCTV footage of the crime scene was collected and it was revealed that four persons on two Apachi Motorcycles committed the act. The team mapped the entry and exit routes of the robbers and analysed more than 1000 CCTV cameras within the radius. It was found that the alleged accused persons came from Khurja, Bulandshahr and had fled away towards Meerut Road. They used a complicated route through villages to avoid police and CCTVs.”

He said, “The team followed the route taken by the alleged motorcycles by analyzing CCTV camera footage one-by-one at each and every corner, turn and junction. Further, technical surveillance was mounted and dump data of place of incident was lifted. The CDRs of more than *2500 numbers* were analyzed to reach a phone number belonging to Khurja. Secret informers were also deployed and local intelligence was also mounted to identify the accused persons.”

After receiving a tip off, a trap was laid on the intervening night of March 11-12 on 70 Futa Road, Seemapuri.

When the accused people reached the spot, they were confronted, which was retaliated and a brief exchange of fire with police took place. In the encounter, two accused persons sustained bullet injuries. The team of Special Staff apprehended all the accused persons. Accordingly, a separate case of attempt to murder and other appropriate sections of law has been registered against the accused persons.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused, Hari Kishan, Vikram Singh, Subham Choudhary and Dev Kumar are professional robbers who commit crimes for easy money and keep loaded weapons and ammunition.

The accused used to assemble in Khurja, Uttar Pradesh and mostly committed crimes far away from their home town in order to conceal their identity. They use stolen motorcycles in the commission of crime. They are well aware of the technical surveillance as they always turn off their mobile phones whenever they leave to commit any robbery and turn them on when they reach back home.

These accused persons are known to criminals and have previously fired at the public or police during the commission of crime.
