The BJP has released the list of 232 candidates on Saturday night for the MCD elections in Delhi. The names have been announced by BJP Delhi State President Adesh Gupta. Before the announcement of the names of the candidates, a meeting of the BJP Delhi State Election Committee was held under the chairmanship of State President Adesh Gupta on Friday. Women have been given more preference in tickets. In the released list, 126 women have been made candidates. National Vice President and State Incharge Baijayant Jai Panda and National Minister and State Co-incharge Dr. Alka Gurjar were also present in the meeting. In the meeting, the committee deliberated after taking comprehensive information from the mandals, districts as well as senior leaders and workers of the state. After this the names of the candidates have been announced.
Let us tell you that in the second meeting of the BJP State Election Committee held on Friday, there was a conflict between most of the MPs and the state office bearers. This was the reason that in the meeting which started on Friday night, the name of the candidate for a single ward could not be decided in the meeting of the committee which lasted till Saturday morning. State in-charge Baijayant Panda had taken the list of claimants from all the MPs and office bearers. Apart from this, he had formed a sub-committee to decide the candidates.
According to sources, the first meeting of the election committee started after 10 pm on Thursday and continued till 3 am on Friday. During this, South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Leader of Opposition in Delhi Legislative Assembly Ramveer Bidhuri, West Delhi MP Pravesh Verma, Election Campaign Committee Chairman Ashish Sood, New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi, former state president Satish Upadhyay, East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir, State General Secretary Kuljit Chahal, North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, North West Delhi MP Hansraj Hans faced opposition from various office bearers of the state. There was also a dispute between them.
