Delhi government will spend 25 crores on Chhath Puja this year. CM Arvind Kejriwal announced this on Friday from the official Twitter account of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). This time Chhath Puja will be performed at 1100 places in Delhi from 30th to 31st October. This money will be spent on facilities like tents, power backup, toilet, CCTV, LED screen, water and first aid at these places.

Kejriwal said – Due to Kovid, Chhath Puja has not been celebrated publicly for the last two years. This time preparations are being made to celebrate Chhath Puja on a large scale. Together we will all seek blessings from Chhath Maiya and worship the Sun God.

Budget increased tenfold since 2014
Revenue Minister Kailash Gehlot has already held a meeting with the officials of 11 districts of Delhi regarding the preparations for Chhath Puja. Everyone has been instructed to take care of the arrangements and the facilities of the people.
In the year 2014, Chhath festival was celebrated at only 69 places in Delhi. For this the government had spent 2.5 crores. Gehlot said that compared to that time, the Delhi government has increased its budget by almost 12 times to celebrate Chhath Puja.

More than 40 lakh people will celebrate Chhath
The number of people from UP and Bihar has increased rapidly in Delhi in the last few years. At present more than 40 lakh Poorvanchanlis are living in the national capital. A large number of people celebrate Chhath festival here. According to media reports, people will not have to travel much from their homes, so tents will be set up for Chhath Puja in the parks of Municipal Corporation (MCD) and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on the banks of Yamuna, near old water bodies.

Last year some scary pictures surfaced on the day of Chhath Puja. Women were drowning in the river amidst the poisonous foam of Yamuna. However, the Delhi government had put a ban on celebrating Chhath in public due to the increasing Kovid infection. Delhi’s air was polluted due to stubble burning in neighboring states and Diwali fireworks. Due to this, the level of ammonia in the Yamuna had increased.
