A decision on anticipatory bail of Akali leader Bikram Majithia, who is trapped in the drugs case, can be taken today. It will be heard in the Punjab and Haryana High Court today. In the hearing held on January 5, the High Court had sent a notice to the Punjab government. In which he was asked to reply by January 8 by sending a notice on Majithia’s petition. After which the government has submitted the answer in HC.

The important thing is that the model code of conduct for the assembly elections in Punjab has been implemented. Till now the Punjab government was vigorously lobbying the matter to make drug addiction an election issue.

Mohali court had dismissed the petition

Earlier, Majithia had sought anticipatory bail from the Mohali court, which was rejected by the sessions court saying that interrogation in custody is necessary to probe the allegations against Majithia. It is also coming to the fore that the Punjab government may register another case against Majithia for his links with gangsters.

Serious allegations against Majithia

Serious allegations have been made against Majithia in the drugs case. It said that Canadian drug smuggler Satpreet Satta continued to stay in Majithia’s Amritsar and also in Chandigarh’s Government Kothi. Even Majithia had given him the car and the gunman. Majithia kept taking funds from drug smugglers for the elections. Apart from this, he continued to get intoxicated by putting pressure. He has also been accused of making settlements between drug smugglers. However, the Akali Dal kept calling it an act of political vendetta.
