Covid Update: India Logs 1,086 Infections In Last 24 Hrs, Cases In Maharashtra Double In A Day

New Delhi: After registering less than 1000 fresh infections for two consecutive days, India has recorded a spike in new cases today. The country has registered 1,086 new Covid cases on Tuesday taking the active case tally 11,871.

According to the data released by the Health Ministry, 1,198 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours while 71 people succumbed to the deadly disease taking the death toll to 5,21,487.

The country’s recovery rate now stands at 98.76% and the daily positivity rate now stands at 0.23%.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra also witnessed a surge in daily cases on Tuesday as the state logged over double the infections as yesterday. Maharashtra registered 136 fresh coronavirus cases, up from 52 cases a day ago, while four more patients succumbed to the infection in the state.

With this, the state’s COVID-19 tally rose to 78,74,582, while the death toll increased to 1,47,793, according to the health bulletin issued late on Tuesday.

On Monday, the state had reported 52 coronavirus cases, the lowest daily count in two years, and zero fatality. Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola, Yavatmal, and Bhandara districts have zero active cases.

The bulletin said 128 coronavirus patients recovered in the last 24 hours, taking their cumulative number to 77,25,919. The state now has 870 active cases and its coronavirus recovery rate stood at 98.11 per cent, the department said.

Mumbai reported 56 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, but no fresh death due to the disease.
