Rebate on single use plastic in Bihar will continue for now. Now the ban on single use plastic will be applicable from July 1, 2022. The Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has issued a notification in this regard on Thursday. Under this, from July 1, 2022, there will be a ban on the manufacture, import, storage, distribution, sale and use of single-use plastics. However, paper cups with less plastic coating will continue to be used.

Actually, the ban came into force in the state from 15 December 2021. A day after this, after getting the exemption from the state government, there is an atmosphere of happiness among the traders. The state government has taken this decision after the decision of the central government.

‘The same plastic and thermocol will be banned which is in the notification of the Center’

The Government of India issued a notification on 12 August 2021 and decided to ban single use plastic from 1 July 2022. After this this demand started rising in Bihar also. BIA and Chamber of Commerce also demanded exemption. After which the Principal Secretary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department Deepak Kumar Singh has issued a notification in this regard today.

All these were banned

Ear buds with plastic sticks, plastic sticks for balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice cream sticks, thermocol plates, cups, glasses, forks, spoons, knives, straws, trays, sweet boxes, invitation cards and cigarettes Wrapping or packing films, plastic or PVC banners of less than 100 microns thickness, stirrers will be banned around the packet.

The polythene ban is in force in the state since 2018.

The state government has already banned polythene in Bihar. Following the direction of the High Court, the state government, taking a decision in the cabinet, had imposed a complete ban on the use of polythene in Bihar on 23 December 2018. It was only after this ban that the government started the process of discontinuing single-use plastic and thermocol.
