Cop under suspension arrested for beating up man near Coimbatore | Coimbatore News – Times of India

COIMBATORE: A head constable under suspension was arrested by the Thudiyalur police for beating up a customer at an eatery run by him.
The arrested policeman has been identified as Kishore, 46. He was placed under suspension seven months ago after allegations surfaced that he had received bribes from a massage centre.
Police sources said Kishore was running an eatery in Thudiyalur. Saravanakumar, 38, of Kurunthasaga Nagar went to have lunch at the eatery in December 2021 along with his friend, Deepak.
While Saravanakumar had ordered a vegetarian meal, he was served a non-vegetarian one. Irked over this, Saravanakumar questioned the supplier. As a verbal quarrel ensued between them, Kishore intervened. As Saravanakumar continued to argue with him, Kishore attacked him with his hands.
The spectacles worn by Saravanakumar broke, inflicting a bleeding injury on his face. Saravanakumar lodged a complaint with the Thudiyalur police, but a case was not registered. He recently met district superintendent of police S Selvanagarathinam and submitted a petition. It led to the registration of a case and arrest of the cop.
