1. Jagdeep Dhankhar will be the 14th Vice President of the country, got 74% votes in the election
After Jagdeep Dhankhar’s victory, Prime Minister Modi came to meet him and said that it is a matter of pride for a farmer’s son to become the Vice President.
Former Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has been elected as the 14th Vice President of the country. He got 528 out of the total 725 i.e. more than 74% of the votes. This is the biggest margin of victory in the last 6 elections. Opposition candidate Margaret Alva got just 182 votes. 15 votes were invalidated. Dhankhar is the second person from Rajasthan after Bhairon Singh Shekhawat to become the Vice President. He will take oath on August 11.

2. Record loss to HP in a quarter due to non-increasing rates of petrol and diesel
Hindustan Petroleum reported a record loss of Rs 10,196 crore in the April-June quarter. This is the biggest loss to the company in any quarter. The reason for this is that crude oil is expensive and the rates of petrol and diesel are not increasing. Oil companies have not increased the rates of petrol and diesel for the last 122 days. Earlier, Indian Oil also had a loss of Rs 1,992 crore in April-June.
