District Consumer Court Dispute Redressal Commission Salem has issued notice to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD). A petition was filed against Devasthanam by KR Hari Bhaskar, in which it was said that instead of the new date of the service earned, he was given the option to convert the ticket to VIP Darshan or refund the service money.

paid for the service in 2006
Hari had paid 12 thousand 250 rupees for the Melchat Vastram service 17 years ago. He was given a date to do this service on 10 July 2020. But at that time the temple was closed due to Corona epidemic. So Hari wrote a letter to the executive officer of Devasthanam to postpone the date of service. After this, the Assistant Executive Officer informed that the discussion on his demand is going on.

Devasthanam gave options instead of date
The deputy executive officer issued a notice telling Hari that TTD could convert his service ticket into VIP darshan or refund his money. But Hari refused to accept it and again appealed for a new date of service. However, Devasthanam rejected it.

The committee said – give the date in 2 months or pay the damages
When the matter reached the Consumer Disputes Redressal Committee, the committee has directed TTD to give a date for Melchat Vastram service within two months. Failure to do so, the amount should be returned to Hari. Also said that if there is a delay in giving this amount, then a compensation of about 45 lakh should be given by adding interest at the rate of 6% every year.

95% of people accepted the option of TTD
Tirupati Tirumala Devasthan gave a total of 17,946 earned service tickets as advance booking during the Corona period. TTD had given ticketed devotees the option of getting a refund or a VIP break due to the cancellation of services. Which was used by 95% of the devotees. Although some devotees approached the High Court, the decision was in favor of TTD.
