Parts up to Central India may see fog and mist during morning and evening. Light fog may also occur at very open places. On the other hand, the weather will remain dry over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and entire north-eastern states. The temperature will drop gradually over the next one week.

Winter will fall in 15 states due to two western disturbances in a week
The first Western Disturbance of the winter season will knock in Kashmir on October 31. Due to this, light rain and snowfall may occur up to Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on November 1. The second Western Disturbance will knock on November 3. It will be much stronger than the first disturbance. Due to this, there may be heavy snowfall from Kashmir to Himachal and Uttarakhand till November 5. The reason for more winter is not much rain, the number of cold days will be more from La Nina…

  • This time it rained more, effect on winter: Records of the Meteorological Department show that less/more rain in monsoon is not related to winter. Like this time it rained 6 percent more than normal. Even after the monsoon, there was about 65% more rain. If the farewell is late then the winter will also be more, it cannot be said.
  • Reason for more cold this time: According to the World Meteorological Organization, the global weather event La-Nina conditions will continue through the winter of 2022-23 in the Northern Hemisphere. That is, it is likely to remain till March 2023. Due to this, there may be a cold winter for the next four months.
  • How cold will it be compared to last time: The number of cold days this year will be above average. This will be the third consecutive winter when La Nina conditions will continue in winter. Its effect will also be visible in the Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic storm Sitarang has passed. Several storms may develop over the next two to three months.
  • 2019 was the second coldest year of the century This year the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) conditions are neutral. Meteorologists have also warned that in recent years 2019 was the second coldest year of the century, just before the three La Nia years from 2020 to 2022, with many parts of the country having more than double the average number of cold days that year. There were no La Nina conditions that year.

Northeast monsoon will knock in the southern peninsula today
With north-easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal, moisture has started coming towards the southern peninsula. The north-east monsoon is likely to knock over the southern states on October 29. This monsoon has nothing to do with the northeastern states either. It will come with moderate rain over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra and Kerala and remain active till December.

About 47% of the rainfall in Tamil Nadu, 31% of Andhra and Telangana, 21% of Karnataka and 17% of Kerala is received in the north-east monsoon. The downside is that in the year where La Nina is in effect, north and central India receives more rainfall in the southwest monsoon, but the southern peninsula receives less rainfall during the northeast monsoon.
