Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Arif Mohammad Khan have come face to face. The governor on Thursday alleged that smugglers in the state were getting protection from the CM’s office. Along with this, the Governor said that the Chief Minister is accusing me that I want to recruit RSS people to university posts. If there is even one such instance, I will resign.

Actually, CM Vijayan had said that Governor Arif is making political interference in the appointment of Vice Chancellors of universities in the state.

Arif said – Will the CM resign?
Governor Arif said that for the post of Vice Chancellor, not only RSS, but if any person is nominated, then I will register. If the CM is unable to prove these allegations, will he resign?

Arif further said that the CM is accusing me that I am running a parallel government and himself claims that he is improving the education system. I ask the CM whether you are improving the system by recruiting unqualified relatives of your party leaders in the vacant posts of universities?

The CMO is Supporting Smugglers
Arif Khan said that I never interfered in the politics of the state, but now I see that the CMO is giving protection to the smugglers. If the state government, CMO and people close to the CM are involved in smuggling activities, then definitely I will intervene.

Governor has become the weapon of RSS: CM Vijayan
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had said on October 10 that Governor Arif was acting as a weapon of the RSS. They are misusing their powers by disrupting the functioning of the state universities. It is undemocratic and an encroachment on the powers of the VCs. The post of governor is not against the government but to uphold the dignity of the constitution.

Vijayan had also said that the governor or the chancellor has no power to remove the vice-chancellor and there is no such option in the Universities Act.

Governor had sought resignation from 9 Vice Chancellors
In Kerala, Governor Arif Khan had ordered nine vice-chancellors to resign from their posts by October 10, 11.30 am. The ruckus on this order reached the Kerala High Court. All the nine vice-chancellors had demanded a stay on their resignation orders.

The High Court had said in its order that all the Vice-Chancellors can continue in their office till the final order after the show cause notice issued to them is issued by the Governor/Chancellor.
