Class XI boy attacked by two students dies | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: A Class XI student, who was assaulted by an ITI student and a Class XII student a few days ago at Alandurai, died without responding to treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, the Alandurai police altered the case to 302 (murder) from 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The parents and relatives of the deceased boy blocked the road near the mortuary of CMCH in protest against the teachers of the Alandurai Government Higher Secondary School for failing to alert the parents about previous enmity between two groups of students.
After police pacified the parents and relatives, they received the body of the boy following a postmortem.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the Class XII student was involved in a series of fights with other students. Two years ago, he brought a knife to the school and threatened other students. The teachers did not inform higher authorities or police.
Deputy superintendent of police, Perur sub-division, Thirumal held a meeting with teachers and students of the Alandurai Government Higher Secondary School on Monday. Thirumal urged the students to focus on their studies “Most of the parents are daily wage labourers and have high hopes for their children. So, students should focus on their studies to shine in life. They should not be involved in any gang fights.”
